Untitled — Final project from the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts — 2018

Overview

"Untitled" was my final project from the one-year program at the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts. The idea arose from my interest in colleges.

I began by photographing myself and the people around me, using these portraits as the foundation for my work. Through material exploration, I experimented with herbal dyes on coffee filters and worked with aged, gridded paper marked by natural imperfections and cuts. In contrast, I also created a digital collage, layering and composing elements in a screen-based format.

The project became a study in contrasts — the organic and the digital, the tactile and the virtual — reflecting a quiet sense of turmoil between the handmade and the screen-made.
